Anna Azernikova (born in Moscow) is an internationally respected singer with a special passion for song interpretation. Anna studied choir conducting at the Moscow Conservatory and classical and baroque singing at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Anna made her singing debut in Moscow where she performed in the Moscow premiere of Beethoven’s Fantasie with Evgeniy Kissin under the baton of Claudio Abbado. During the world premiere of Dmitri Shostakovitsch’s music for the silent film Odna, Anna performed the soprano solo part. Afterwards she toured through Switzerland and Germany (Basel Sinfonietta Orchestra) to finally perform a similar programme in the Queen Elizabeth Hall of London with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Anna has appeared in various concert halls, including the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Royal Festival Hall (London), the Minsk Philarmonia, the Grand Hall of Vredenburg (Utrecht) and the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam). Anna Azernikova is also active in the chamber music field and performs regularly with various musicians like Severin von Eckardstein, Plamena Mangova, Olga Pashchenko, Alexei Lubimov, Basinia Shulman and the Borodin Quartet. Anna appeared often on radio and tv-programs like Vrije Geluiden of the VPRO in the Netherlands, Arte in Germany, Mezzo in France and the national tv-networks of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Since 2013, Anna is the artistic director of the Chamber Music Festival “Winter nights on the Amstel” in the Hermitage Amsterdam.
