The Cameristi del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is a Chamber Orchestra created by highly professional instrumentalists who have benefitted from years of experience as members of the prestigious Florentine Opera House, under the direction of their Principal Concuctor, Zubin Mehta. Guest conductors have included great names such as; Claudio Abbado, Carlo Maria Guilini, Guiseppe Sinopoli, Carlos Kleiber, Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, Georges Pretre, Seiji Ozawa, Ricardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Semyon Bychkov and Myung-Whung Chung. They present varied programmes, ranging from the great Italian instrumental music of the 18th Century, the repertoire of the European Romantic Era to the early 20th century and contemporary composers, unifying the typical and unique lucid italian sound with a rigorous search for authenticity. The size of the Cameristi varies depending on the context and the repertoire performed and ranges from a small ensemble, led by the principal players of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, to a larger chamber orchestra. The Cameristi del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino have the privilege to carry the name of the Florentine Opera House and are regular guests at many International Festivals. They perform in some of the most prestigious venues and have collaborated with internationally renowned soloists including Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Salvatore Accardo, Pinchas Zukerman, Wolfram Christ, Mario Brunello, Andrea Lucchesini, Vadim Repin, Boris Berezovsky, Daniele Callegari, Michael Guttman, Nestor Marconi, Anneleen Lenaerts, Toby Hoffman, Sergio Tiempo e Karin Lechner.
